More dates for Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains

More dates have been announced for the summer/fall tour starring Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains. The second leg begins on September 8th in Vancouver, Canada, ending on October 9th in Southaven, Mississippi. Kill Hannah has been confirmed as the opening act for the first leg, which begins on August 5th in Baltimore, while Sparta is the tentative warm-up band on the second batch of dates. Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash told us that going on the road with Alice In Chains was a no-brainer: [ Click to listen if you have a backstage pass] "Well, I saw them at the Wiltern Theatre in L.A. about six months ago, and they were awesome. So when we were looking down the list of bands that were available to do this tour, there wasn't anybody that we felt a kinship with except for Alice In Chains. They're in the studio working on a record, so I wasn't really sure if they were gonna be around, but they committed to it, so I was really happy about that. Should be a great tour."

Velvet Revolver released its new album, Libertad, this week.

Little information is available on the new Alice In Chains record, which will be its first new studio album in 12 years. The band reunited last year for North American and European tours, with vocalist William DuVall stepping in for late singer Layne Staley, who died in 2002.
