Tool frontman talks side project
Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan took a brief break from the band's tour schedule to work on the long-awaited debut album from his side project, Puscifer. Keenan told RollingStone.com that the project is "my attempt to make music to inspire people. Heavy rock is sinking, the industry is dying. This is definitely not thinking man's music, but groove-oriented music that makes you feel good."
Tracks set for inclusion on the record include "Queen B," "Dojo" and "Country Boner." The latter is a cover of a song by defunct Illinois band Electric Sheep, which featured high school friends Adam Jones of Tool and Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine.
Guests on the record include Primus drummer Tim Alexander, guitarist Jonny Polonsky and Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich.
Keenan is keeping the album's "colorful" title a surprise for now.
He expects to release it in October, but said he might experiment with alternate means of getting the music out. He explained, "I'd like to release it in different ways -- maybe two songs at a time, every three or four months. You can do that now, with the Internet and MySpace."
Tool completed a U.S. tour on Wednesday night (July 18th) in New Jersey and heads to Europe next month.
