Bono's daughter target of kidnapping plot?
U2 frontman Bono's daughter, Jordan Hewson, was the target of a 1994 kidnapping plot, according to Spinner.com. In a new book written by the daughter of Dublin-based gangster Martin "The General" Cahill, it's revealed that five Irish criminals reportedly planned to abduct the then four-year-old Jordan and demand $8 million in ransom money. Cahill eventually called off the plan after the thugs camped outside Bono's estate for six straight months without an opportunity to grab the child.
The book, Martin Cahill, My Father, was written by the mobster's oldest daughter, Frances. It was published last week.
U2 has been working on the follow-up to 2004's How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb with producers Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno.
The band issued a DVD of its Popmart tour last month.
