Bruce Springsteen follow up coming in spring?
Bruce Springsteen's producer Brendan O'Brien told Billboard that there's enough material in the can for a second new Springsteen collection after the just-released Magic, saying, "There's another group of songs that exist that I think are great songs and should end up somewhere, but they just didn't quite fit with this group."
When pressed about fan rumors that the songs might be released as a separate album sometime in the spring, O'Brien said: "I'll defer to others on that one."
Magic has topped the charts in the U.K., according to Billboard.com. The set is Springsteen's seventh U.K. Number One album, following Devils And Dust (2005), The Rising (2002), Greatest Hits (1995), Human Touch (1992), and Tunnel Of Love (1987). Magic, which was released last week, is expected to also debut at Number One on the U.S. charts tomorrow (October 10th) when the Billboard 200 album charts are published.
Magic is the third Springsteen album that O'Brien has produced, following 2005's Devils And Dust, and 2002's E Street Band reunion album, The Rising.
Over the weekend Springsteen treated concertgoers in Philadelphia to some rarely performed favorites, including "Brilliant Disguise," "Cadillac Ranch," and "Incident On 57th Street," as well as a ragged version of "Dancing In The Dark," which Springsteen had not played during any of his New Jersey rehearsal shows or at his opening night concert in Hartford.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform tonight and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday, October 9th and 10th) in East Rutherford, New Jersey at the Continental Airlines Arena.
