Foo Fighters planning big production for early 2008 tour

Foo Fighters just finished a short run of U.S. dates, but will be back for a full-fledged North American tour in early 2008. The band is just starting pre-production for the trek and bassist Nate Mendel told us that fans should expect a big rock show this time out: [ Click to listen if you have a backstage pass] "We're sort of working on something. Next week we're gonna do some pre-production rehearsals and we're kind of entering into the, it's a little retro, you know, the big '80s...no pyrotechnics, but on that kind of level of trying to put something together. Could be Spinal Tap, could be Pink Floyd. Hopefully it'll be more on the Pink Floyd end of things."

The new Foo Fighters album, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace, debuted at Number Three on the Billboard album chart last week, selling 168,000 copies in its first week in stores.

The disc plunged to Number 16 this week, with a 69 percent sales drop to 55,000 copies.

The group will perform this weekend (October 13th) on Saturday Night Live before heading out on a European trek later this month.
