Jet grounded indefinately
Australian band Jet has announced that it is going on an indefinite hiatus, according to Drowned in Sound. Drummer Chris Cester wrote in a post at the band's MySpace page, "We've just decided to take some well-earned time off. After touring for, well, ever, we sat ourselves down and realized that, with all the time we have spent away from home, Jet could finally use some down time." Various solo projects and producing gigs are reportedly in the works for some members of the band.
Jet was last seen on these shores earlier this year, touring in support of its 2006 sophomore album, Shine On.
The CD came out last October but disappeared fairly quickly from the sales and radio charts.
Shine On followed up the band's 2003 debut disc, Get Born, which sold over a million copies and produced three hit singles. One of those, "Are You Gonna Be My Girl," got a tremendous boost from being one of the first songs used in Apple's initial iPod campaign.
