Nikki Sixx: No plans for side project to tour
Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx's new side project, Sixx: A.M., will play its first official live show on Thursday (October 25th) as part of a Halloween-themed radio festival in West Valley City, Utah. But Sixx says that the project won't hit the road anytime soon on a full-fledged tour. According to Blabbermouth, Sixx said in an online post, "As you all know, we don't have a drummer...so we use whoever is available for live or videos. We do it all ourselves when recording. I've been asked a lot if we do any Crue live and at this time I feel we should stand on our own and not rely on anybody's music but our own. We don't have any plans to tour, so this is exciting for us to do this one show."
Following the show, Sixx will sign copies of his new memoir, The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, at stops in Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco.
Twenty-five percent of Sixx's royalties from the book go to Running Wild In The Night, a charity he established in conjunction with Covenant House to rescue homeless and runaway youth from the streets.
The Sixx: A.M. album, which Sixx recorded with fellow musicians James Michael and D.J. Ashba as a soundtrack to the book, features the single "Life Is Beautiful."
