Foo Fighters adding Green angle to 2008 concerts
Foo Fighters will add a green angle to its upcoming North American tour, which is scheduled to begin on January 23rd in Dallas. Ticketmaster will hold an online auction for a limited amount of premium tickets at each stop on the tour, and all the proceeds from these sales will go to TreeBank, a non-profit organization that focuses on planting trees in urban areas. In addition, Foo Fighters are among the dozens of artists featured on Live Earth - The Concerts For A Climate in Crisis, a CD/DVD package that comes out Tuesday (November 20th) and chronicles the Live Earth concerts which took place on all seven continents on July 7th, 2007. Foo Fighters appeared at the London concert, held in Wembley Stadium, and guitarist Chris Shiflett told us how he remembered the massive event: [

You know, we hadn't played for a little while, we'd been busy working, making a record, and just to go out there and kind of blaze through a little quick short set was super fun. It was just a weird day, with all those, the mix of people that were there, and I really didn't even see much of the show. I was just kind of hanging around in, like, the cavern of Wembley." The Live Earth set also includes performances from Metallica, the Smashing Pumpkins, Chris Cornell, the Beastie Boys, the Dave Matthews Band, Wolfmother, Keane, Snow Patrol, Bon Jovi, Lenny Kravitz, Taking Back Sunday, A.F.I. and numerous other rock, pop and urban acts.
Net proceeds from sales of the CD/DVD set will go to benefit the Alliance for Climate Protection, which aims to persuade the public to adopt and implement effective and comprehensive solutions for the climate crisis.
Foo Fighters have announced half a dozen dates so far in January and February as the group continues to support its sixth studio album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, which arrived in stores in September.
