Paul Rodgers prepares for Led Zeppelin gig
Paul Rodgers is gearing up to play Led Zeppelin's December 10th reunion show in London. The former Bad Company and Free frontman says he's honored to play at the tribute for the late Ahmet Ertegun, who co-founded Atlantic Records and discovered such artists as Ray Charles. As for his concert set, Rodgers plans to perform an acoustic track off of Bad Company's debut album, as well as Free's hit song, "All Right Now." He's excited about the show but said he hopes Led Zep "can live up to the expectations, because they're huge." He added, "But God bless 'em and good luck to 'em." Rodgers and Zep guitarist Jimmy Page were in the short-lived 1980s group, the Firm. The Led Zeppelin reunion show will also feature performances by Pete Townshend, Foreigner, Paolo Nutini and Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings.
Rodgers has been in the studio with Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen working on an album, which is expected out next year. The effort will likely come out under the name Queen + Paul Rodgers. Rodgers said, "I don't feel that I stepped into the image of Queen, although I wouldn't know that. But I really stepped into the music. It's safe to say we're quietly excited about what we're doing."
He said fans can probably expect a tour next year.
