Pete Townshend says that he's hard at work on the next Who album, which will be the followup to their 2006 collection, Endless Wire. Townshend spoke of the band's plans for the upcoming yearn telling barnesandnoble.com, "I am writing at the moment... We are considering plans to complete the 2006-2007 world tour. We didn't make it to Australia or Japan, Hawaii or South America. We are also talking about coming back to the U.S. next year at some point. We have two distinct ideas for new albums."

They never said to me, 'We wanna be a comedy act,' but if I gave them comedy songs they were brilliant at them. They never said to me, 'We wanna be a girl-friendly band,' but if I gave them a love song they would do it brilliantly. They never said 'We want to be a heavy metal group, if I gave them a heavy metal song,' they did it brilliantly. They could do anything -- but they never gave me a brief. Where did I get my brief? An additional bonus disc, featuring 90 minutes from the Who's December 8th, 1979 concert at Chicago's International Amphitheater, is available exclusively through Best Buy stores.
In the works for next year is a DVD featuring performances by the Who at the London Coliseum in 1969, Kilburn, UK in 1977, and their 2006 return to Leeds University which kicked off their most recent tour. No release date or title has been announced for the set, but the footage will be released as part of the Japanese edition of Amazing Journey next year.
