Original master recordings from Velvet Revolver and Foo Fighters will make up the first downloadable track packs for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Both packs are available for the month of November and can be obtained now at Xbox Live Marketplace, with the PlayStation release coming later this month. Brand new "Boss Battle" anthems composed by Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash and Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello will also be available in late November. The ninth annual Coachella outing will take place once again at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California, on April 25th, 26th and 27th, 2008. Information on the artist lineup and ticket sales will be announced at a later date. Last year's event was headlined by Rage Against The Machine.
Finnish Goth-rock act H.I.M. will film its shows on Wednesday (November 14th) and Thursday (November 15th) at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles for an upcoming DVD. The band will also shoot a music video for "Bleed Well" at the two gigs. H.I.M. is touring in support of its sixth album, Venus Doom, which arrived in September. (Tunelab Music)
Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello played for an estimated 3,000 striking screenwriters outside the Century City headquarters of Fox on Friday morning (November 9th). The Writers Guild of America went on strike on November 5th after talks stalled over royalties from Internet content. Morello has participated in other labor actions before, mostly dealing with migrant farm workers. (Los Angeles Times)
