Radiohead guitarist up for an Oscar?
Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood could possibly land an Oscar nomination for the score he composed for the upcoming movie There Will Be Blood. According to NME.com, an industry insider said that the score is "a bit menacing and difficult to listen to at times but Hollywood loves that. A gold statuette could be on its way to (Greenwood)." The soundtrack album will come out on December 18th, while the film itself is scheduled to hit theaters at Christmas.
There Will Be Blood stars Daniel Day-Lewis as an early 20th century oil baron. The film was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, whose previous pictures include Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Punch-Drunk Love.
Meanwhile, Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood told the Columbia Spectator that the band issued its latest album, In Rainbows, as a digital release to put some "excitement" back into the moribund music industry. Greenwood explained, "I hope we put some excitement back into music; It's all becoming horribly predictable."
