Van Halen plots more US concerts
Van Halen capped a stretch of East Coast dates on Tuesday night (November 13th) with a sold-out show at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Despite reports of sound problems on a couple of recent stops, the Garden show came off flawlessly, with the exception of singer David Lee Roth shouting, "I forgot the f***ing lyrics!" during "Pretty Woman." The two-hour performance was packed from start to finish with classics from all six of the albums the band cut with Roth, including "Runnin' with the Devil," "Dance the Night Away," "Unchained," "Panama," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" and show closer "Jump."The quartet is now taking a week off before beginning a West Coast run on November 20th in Los Angeles that will end in late December.
Meanwhile, plans are moving forward for a 2008 slate of shows as well. In addition to a previously announced March 30th gig in St. Louis, Van Halen has added dates in Oklahoma City on January 22nd, Houston on January 28th and Omaha, Nebraska on February 4th, with more sure to be revealed.
Van Halen's tour, which features Roth behind the mic for the first time in 22 years, launched in late September to massive ticket sales and mostly positive reviews. The trek features Wolfgang Van Halen, teenage son of guitarist Eddie Van Halen, playing bass instead of original member Michael Anthony, who was not invited to participate.
