Iron Maiden strike EMI deal

Iron Maiden have signed a wide-ranging international recording pact with long-time label home EMI, which will share in the band's touring, merchandise and sponsorship revenues.

The deal excludes the United States, where the band is signed to Sanctuary. Financial details were not disclosed.

Iron Maiden and EMI have a 28-year relationship, during which time the band has sold about 70 million albums and topped the UK album charts three times.

The band's 14th and most recent album, "A Matter of Life and Death", opened at No. 1 on Billboard's European Top 100 Albums charts last year.

The group's upcoming "Somewhere Back in Time" world tour is due to kick off February 1 in Mumbai, India. U.S. dates are set for February 9 in Los Angeles and March 14 in New Jersey. It will also play London's Twickenham rugby stadium on July 5.
