Led Zeppelin Bonnaroo rumors not confirmed
Led Zeppelin might not be in talks to play the Bonnaroo Festival after all. Rumors recently circulated suggesting that both Zeppelin and Metallica were scheduled to play the annual festival in Manchester, Tennessee next June. The rumors started with anonymous letter to music industry commentator Bob Lefsetz. A source at Metallica's management firm told Harddrive Radio that Metallica is not appearing at the upcoming Bonnaroo music festival. There's no official word on Led Zeppelin, but singer Robert Plant is already booking his own live dates with Alison Krauss for next summer.
The surviving members of Led Zeppelin are reuniting next Monday, December 10th, for a highly anticipated concert at the O2 Arena in London as part of a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. According to NME.com, Led Zeppelin might reach out to Elton John before playing the gig. They're trying to achieve the best sound possible at the London venue and apparently guitarist Jimmy Page thinks John was the only one who did it right when he played there. Page told Q magazine, "The Stones sounded terrible, Prince wasn't great, Snow Patrol was just this great monolithic noise." Page added, "The only guy who sounded OK in there was Elton John," explained Page. "So I may talk to his soundman."
Metallica has been home in the Bay Area working on its ninth studio album. Although an early-to-mid-2008 release is expected, the band has not given any indications of its tour plans in support of the disc.
