Led Zeppelin tour rumors stronger
Rumors are flying around the Internet that Led Zeppelin is considering playing three shows at New York City's famed Madison Square Garden, after their successful reunion performance at London's O2 Arena on Monday night (December 10th). The reports are all based on a claim by columnist Gordon Smart in British tabloid The Sun, who says a source told him that after the concert the members of the band were discussing how the show had gone, and "Then the talk went to, 'What next? Was this it or would there be something else?' One of the guys started talking about their three concerts at the Garden. There was a consensus of, 'Why not?'" Concert promoters are reported to be aggressively courting the band for a tour.
Leading up to the reunion show, guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant made conflicting statements in the press about their openness to more performances or a tour.
A recent widespread rumor that Led Zeppelin would be playing the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee next year turned out to be unfounded. However, Plant will be playing the festival with bluegrass star Alison Krauss, with whom he has a current hit album, called Rising Sand. Plant and Krauss have other 2008 dates scheduled as well.
Led Zeppelin's concert movie The Song Remains the Same was filmed at a three-night stand at Madison Square Garden on July 27th, 28th, and 29th, 1973.
In other news, a number of video clips of the band's London performance that were posted on YouTube have been removed, with a notice saying that it was at the request of Warner Music Group. Billboard.com reports, however, that it was the band's management, and not Warner Music Group, who requested that the website remove the clips. This fuels further speculation that a DVD of the reunion concert is being considered.
Jimmy Page says that after all the success Led Zeppelin had, the real reward has been that the music has lasted so well: [
