Metallica not confirmed for Bonnaroo 2008

A source at Metallica's management firm told Harddrive Radio that the band is not appearing at this year's Bonnaroo music festival, scheduled for June in Manchester, Tennessee, despite reports that both Metallica and Led Zeppelin would be performing at the annual event. That news first originated with an anonymous email published in a newsletter by industry commentator Bob Lefsetz, although the email itself offered no substantiation for the claim nor any clues to the emailer's source.

Metallica has been home in the Bay Area working on its ninth studio album. Although an early-to-mid-2008 release is expected, the band has not given any indications of its tour plans in support of the disc.

The surviving members of Led Zeppelin are reuniting next Monday, December 10th, for a highly anticipated concert at the O2 Arena in London as part of a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

Despite widespread and intense speculation that the legendary rock band will launch a full reunion tour following the London date, the members of Zeppelin have denied planning anything beyond the single show. Singer Robert Plant is booking his own live dates with Alison Krauss for next summer.
