Robert Plant wanted to recreate classic 1970 Led Zeppelin concert

Robert Plant says that he had originally wanted Led Zeppelin's upcoming reunion show to be a song-for-song copy of their legendary January 9th, 1970 set at London's Royal Albert Hall. Plant told Rolling Stone, "I had an idea initially that we should do our entire Royal Albert Hall set starting with 'We've Gotta Groove'... Just do that! I was there at the Albert Hall, but I don't know what the f*** happened. I was flying in the middle of that great storm."

Led Zeppelin's performance from January 9th, 1970 was featured in its entirety on the band's 2002 DVD collection How The West Was Won.

The songs performed that night were "We're Gonna Groove," "I Can't Quit You Baby," "White Summer," "Black Mountain Side," "How Many More Times," "Whole Lotta Love," "C'mon Everybody," "Communication Breakdown," "Long Tall Sally," "Something Else," and "Bring It On Home."

Continuing to fuel speculation, Jimmy Page told Britain's Q magazine that he wants the Zeppelin reunion to continue beyond next week's London show, and is even willing to consider using the new music he's been stockpiling as the basis for new a Zeppelin album: "I would like to keep this moving. I've got things I've been working on for the past four years that I'm proud of. Some of the songs I've got ready are as good as anything I've done in the past. I wouldn't necessarily save them for my solo career."

Led Zeppelin's December 10th show at London's O2 Arena marks the band's first full concert since their final show with their late drummer John Bonham on July 7th, 1980 in Berlin.
