AC/DC album rumors false
The rumors about an impending new album from AC/DC are apparently not true, according to Australia's Undercover News. A spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Records, denied reports that the band had nearly completed work on its first record since 2000 and was planning to issue it this spring. The spokesperson said, "If you ask me if they're in the studio today, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they were in the studio last week, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they're in the studio next week, I can tell you they're not. We're pretty hopeful, but unfortunately there is no word of an album at this stage."Reports surfaced this week that AC/DC was finishing up an album, titled Strap It On, with Back in Black producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange.
The band's last release, Stiff Upper Lip, arrived eight years ago.
The spokesperson did not address rumors that the group was planning a series of secret shows in Europe later this month, although that now appears unlikely to happen.
