Foo Fighters tour kicks off

Foo Fighters kick off their U.S. tour on Wednesday (January 16th) in Sunrise, Florida, the band's first full-length trek in support of its Grammy-nominated album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. The group is ramping up its live show with a lot of production value, including two different stages and four additional musicians. Frontman Dave Grohl also told us that the Foos are covering as much of America as possible: [ Click to listen if you have a backstage pass] "We're going to a lot of places we haven't been in a while, so it's gonna be good. We go through the Southeast first, we're down in Florida, and going through Texas and going through Alabama and Tennessee and make our way through the Midwest a little bit, and then up around the Northeast, and then we make our way out west, and, you know, this spring we'll be spending most of our time touring America."

The tour wraps up with a two-night stand in Los Angeles on March 5th and 6th before heading to Canada and then overseas.

Opening acts on different portions of the trip will include Serj Tankian, Against Me! and Jimmy Eat World.

Foo Fighters have been nominated for five Grammy Awards this year, including Album of the Year for Echoes... and Record of the Year for the CD's first single, "The Pretender."
