Ozzy Osbourne took a spill twice on Wednesday night (February 20th) just before his stint as co-host of the 2008 Brit Awards with wife Sharon and daughter Kelly. Although Ozzy was apparently not seriously injured in the falls, it did leave him sore enough to keep him relatively quiet during the two-hour event, which was broadcast live from London. (AOL Music) Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich's longtime assistant Steven Wiig spoke about the group's next album during an interview with VirginiaFuel.com, the Web site of the Virginia chapter of the official Metallica fan club. Wiig said about the yet-to-be-titled disc, "There's some fast stuff, heavy stuff, slow stuff. There's some stuff on there that sounds a little bit closer to the 'Fade to Black'/'Sanitarium'/'One'-style of song...It's cool to hear them doing that kind of thing again. That's what Rick (Rubin, producer) has been saying -- don't be afraid of doing more of what you do really well. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Just make a really good Metallica record." (Blabbermouth)
Sixth-grade teacher Karen Hipp was placed on administrative leave after parents complained that she was playing songs about suicide and death to her students at Excelsior Middle School in Union, South Carolina. Among the tunes was "Join Me In Death" from Finnish Goth-rock outfit HIM. One parent said, "These are sixth-graders listening to songs about committing suicide or killing others. I found it very inappropriate." (FoxCarolina.com)
