Stone Temple Pilots headlining "Rock on the Range"?
Stone Temple Pilots are rumored to be one of the headlining acts at the second annual Rock on the Range festival, scheduled for May 17th and 18th in Columbus, Ohio. The event, which has expanded to two days this year, follows 2007's successful debut, which included appearances by Evanescence, Velvet Revolver, Hinder, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Puddle Of Mudd and more. Organizers reported that all 40,000 tickets for last year's show sold out.
No other acts have been confirmed for Rock on the Range, although there has been speculation that Metallica could top the bill. The group hinted in a fan club email last week that an announcement about some sort of American date was imminent.
Although it has not been made official yet, Stone Temple Pilots will apparently regroup this summer for a short run of shows. Singer Scott Weiland told the Miami Herald about the reunion last month, while his Velvet Revolver bandmate Slash also confirmed that Weiland would perform with STP after Velvet Revolver finishes out its current schedule.
