U2's Bono to co-host AIDS benefit auction
U2 singer Bono and contemporary British artist Damien Hirst will co-host an AIDS benefit auction this week in New York City. The event, set for Thursday (February 14th) at Sotheby's auction house, is part of Bono's ongoing (RED) project to raise money for the treatment of HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Among the artists donating pieces for auction are Hirst, Banksy, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince, New Musical Express reports. Celebrities expect to attend the event include actors Josh Hartnett, Ed Burns and Dennis Hopper, former supermodels Helena Christensen and Christy Turlington, and musicians Moby and Q-Tip.
