Bruce Springsteen to perform benefit concert
Bruce Springsteen will perform a benefit concert for Red Bank, New Jersey's Count Basie Theatre on May 7th, according to backstreets.com. The benefit will take place at the venue and will raise money for the theater's renovation, which will begin this summer. Money raised at the show will also go towards various other programs though the theatre, including the Cool School which includes "workshops with seasoned professionals for aspiring actors, musicians and dancers of all ages." There has been no announcement as to whether Springsteen will be performing solo, with the E Street Band, or with others.
Springsteen's wife Patti Scialfa currently serves on the Board of the Basie Foundation, and as Honorary Chair of the Capital Campaign.
Tickets for the event, dubbed "An Evening with Bruce Springsteen," will be made available through an online "Make Your Best Offer" auction beginning March 20th at countbasietheatre.org.
Springsteen has performed at the Count Basie Theatre numerous times over the years. He most recently played the Basie last May, when he sat in with Brian Wilson at his concert there, playing on "Barbara Ann" and "Love And Mercy."
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform on March 7th in Buffalo, New York at the HSBC Arena.
