Jeff Healey dies of eye cancer aged 41
Canadian guitarist Jeff Healey has died from a rare form of cancer at the age of 41, reports AFP. Healey was known for being a blind guitar virtuoso who started playing at the age of three, and had an unorthodox style, with the guitar sitting flat against his lap.
His biggest hit was "Angel Eyes" in 1989 with the Jeff Healey Band, from their album See The Light. He also had a minor rock radio hit in 1993 with Lost In Your Eyes, which was written by Tom Petty. He appeared in the 1989 film Road House.
Healey had fought the cancer, called retinoblastoma, since birth. It was also responsible for permanently blinding him at one year old.
