Metallica celebrating "record store day"
Metallica has announced that it will participate in Record Store Day on April 19th, according to a new post at the band's official web site. The group will make an in-store appearance at Rasputin Music in Mountain View, California starting at 2 p.m. PT. According to the post, fans are encouraged to "come on down to the store, say 'hi,' bring some stuff for us to sign, and in the spirit of supporting your local independent record store, maybe you'll want to do a little shopping while you're there." The message adds that fans can begin lining up at 8 a.m., with the store handing out 400 wristbands for entry beginning at 10 a.m.Metallica fan club members will have special early access.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said on England's BBC Radio two weeks ago that the band's new album is tentatively going to surface in September, adding, "I like what I've heard so far."
The band has scheduled a slew of European festival dates for May, June and July, and will play a single U.S. date, a headlining slot at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee, on June 13th.
