Ozzfest headed to London?
Ozzfest 2008 is reportedly headed to the U.K. for a one-off show at London's O2 Arena on July 19th, according to Kerrang.com. Ozzy Osbourne is expected to headline the event without Black Sabbath, while other rumored participants include Killswitch Engage, Alice In Chains, Serj Tankian, Dimmu Borgir and Lacuna Coil. Ozzfest has made it to the U.K. before as a one-day event, but this news comes amid rumors that the long-running metal festival might revert back to its original form as a two-day event in the U.S., to be held this time in Dallas. Ozzfest began as a two-day show in Los Angeles in 1996 before turning into a full tour. There's been no official word yet from the Ozzfest camp of what configuration the tour will take this year to follow up 2007's "free" traveling festival.
Tankian, Killswitch Engage, Mudvayne, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine plus the reactivated Filter and Stone Temple Pilots have all been rumored as participants.
Ozzfest faces serious competition this year from the inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, which will play 30 North American amphitheaters during July and August with Disturbed, Slipknot, Dragonforce, Mastodon, Airbourne, Five Finger Death Punch and others on tap.
Ozzy, Korn and Black Label Society will team up for a South American tour that begins on March 30th in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
