REM debuts new album in London
R.E.M. debuted material from its upcoming album, Accelerate, at an intimate show at a London Apple store on Wednesday (March 26th), Billboard.com reports, as part of the iTunes "Live From London" series. The show kicked off with the song "Bad Day," followed by the rarity "Auctioneer (Another Engine)" from their 1985 album Fables of the Reconstruction. R.E.M. also played its new single, "Supernatural Superserious." About 400 fan club and competition winners were in attendance. At one point, singer Michael Stipe told the crowd, "We're going to do 10 more songs and then we'll all go for a curry somewhere. Not collectively -- although if you're buying I might consider it." iTunes plans to release the entire concert online soon.
R.E.M. will kick off a North American tour in May.
The new R.E.M. album is streaming at the iLike.com social networking site, and officially arrives in stores next Tuesday (April 1st).
