Slash: Velvet Revolver not breaking up
Lead guitarist Slash has denied reports that Velvet Revolver is breaking up. Singer Scott Weiland stunned an audience in Glasgow, Scotland last Thursday (March 20th) when he told them that they were watching "the last tour" by the group. Weiland's announcement was followed by an online war of words between him and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum. But in an interview with England's BBC Radio One, Slash simply said, "Well, let's put it this way -- this is not Velvet Revolver's last tour," adding that the group planned to make a third album. In the same interview, Slash also refuted comments made by bassist Duff McKagan that Velvet Revolver would open for Led Zeppelin on a rumored world tour. Slash said, "There's been a huge rumor going around about us opening for them and I think that was something that was taken out of context. I think as far as Zeppelin doing a tour, that remains to be seen."
Led Zeppelin has made no plans to tour yet despite an acclaimed and hugely successful reunion show in London last December.
On the other hand, Scott Weiland is reuniting with his previous group, Stone Temple Pilots, for a series of shows this summer, adding fuel to speculation that Velvet Revolver was on its last legs.
