Van Halen tour cancelled?
TMZ.com reported on Sunday night (March 2nd) that the remainder of Van Halen's current tour has been cancelled. A source told the gossip Web site that hotel reservations for the duration of this leg, which was scheduled to last through late April, are being withdrawn. The reason for the alleged cancellation is that guitarist Eddie Van Halen is having "issues," according to the source. There has been no official comment or statement of any kind from representatives for Van Halen, but the Web site for the American Airlines Center in Dallas, where the band is scheduled to appear on Monday night (March 3rd), is still listing the concert.A Buffalo radio station told Blabbermouth.net late last week that the group had put all future tour dates beyond the end of its current run on hold, including a proposed May 17th show in Buffalo.
Van Halen postponed two concerts two weekends ago in Charlottesville, Virginia and Duluth, Georgia. No reason was given for the postponements, but both had since been rescheduled for mid-March.
According to numerous unsubstantiated reports online, internal band tensions have been flaring up again as the tour has gone forward. The group hit the road last fall with original singer David Lee Roth for the first time in 22 years.
