Velvet Revolver bassist: "I just don't know what will happen"
Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan told the U.K.'s Journal Live that he can't promise that the group will complete its current British tour after singer Scott Weiland's latest bout with substance abuse. McKagan said, "Scott is okay as far as I know but I can't say he'll be fine when the tour kicks off or when it finishes. You just never know. Addiction is crazy and I should know...The truth is I just don't know what will happen. I don't want to read this interview where I've said there'll be no problems and then for us not to finish the tour."
Weiland spent a month in rehab recently, following an arrest for driving under the influence last November and his failure to show up for a Velvet Revolver gig at the Sundance Festival in January.
Despite concerns about Weiland's health, McKagan added, "Velvet Revolver is something that's going to be around for a long while yet...(Guitarist) Slash and I have been doing this job for 20 years and nothing is going to get in the way of what we're doing now."
The U.K. jaunt will end later this month, followed by dates on the European continent.
Weiland will reunite with his previous outfit, Stone Temple Pilots, for a series of shows this spring and summer, after which Velvet Revolver will tentatively begin working on its third album.
