Vintage Simon & Garfunkel concert on CD
Out now is the previously unreleased CD Simon & Garfunkel Live 1969. The set, which is only available at Starbucks coffee shops, features 17 songs from the duo's 1969 tour, which were recorded for a live collection which was to serve as their followup to their final album, 1970's multiplatinum Bridge Over Troubled Water. The album consists of songs recorded at stops in Long Beach, California; New York City; Carbondale, Illinois; Toledo, Ohio; Detroit; and St. Louis.
During these shows, Simon & Garfunkel premiered some songs from Bridge Over Troubled Water, which at that time had not yet been released.

Legendary New York DJ Pete Fornatale recently published his latest book, Simon & Garfunkel's Bookends, which chronicles the duo's classic 1968 album. Fornatale says that by the end of that year Simon & Garfunkel's fame had crossed generational boundaries in much the same way the Beatles' music had: [

The soundtrack from The Graduate, (the) Bookends (album) -- all these new fans, older fans, moms and dads discovering them by going to the movies to see one of the great motion pictures of the '60s. That brought a whole new audience into the tent, and they were ready to consume anything by Simon & Garfunkel that was out there." Live 1969 is Simon & Garfunkel's fourth live collection, following 1982's The Concert In Central Park, 2002's archival release Live From New York City, 1967, and 2004's Old Friends: Live On Stage.
