AC/DC: New album recording underway

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson has confirmed to a Los Angeles radio station that recording is underway for the band's first new album in eight years, with producer Brendan O'Brien working on the project. The band began working five weeks ago at a studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Johnson revealed, "We're working with Brendan O'Brien, (Bruce) Springsteen's producer, and he's a great guy. He knows exactly what we want, and so far, it sounds really good. I'm well pleased."

As for whether the band will tour to support the new disc, Johnson said, "I would probably thinks so, yeah. I always hate to say yes in case something happens, but I really do think we will be out there -- everybody's enjoying being back together again and the buzz is still there and the excitement."

O'Brien is also known for his work with Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Audioslave and Velvet Revolver, among others.

Little had been reported until now about the new AC/DC album, which will be the band's first since 2000's Stiff Upper Lip.

VH1 Classic host Eddie Trunk recently revealed on his New York radio show that AC/DC was rumored to be planning a "farewell" tour for later in the year.

In other news, Totally Baked, a "stoner comedy" on which Brian Johnson is listed as an executive producer, will debut on DVD on April 22nd. Johnson also wrote three new songs for the movie's soundtrack.
