Metallica: More live shows confirmed
Metallica has confirmed a second U.S. concert appearance, on May 16th at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson, Arizona for "KFMA Day." According to the group's official Web site, they'll be joined by Apocalyptica, Scars On Broadway and Flobots at the event. Tickets go on sale this Saturday (April 5th) with Metallica fan club members getting their chance on Thursday (April 3rd). Metallica's only other confirmed U.S. live performance so far this year is at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee in mid-June, although the post at the band's Web site noted, "We have a couple more things lurking, so keep watching here." Metallica will participate in Record Store Day on April 19th by making an in-store appearance at Rasputin Music in Mountain View, California starting at 2 p.m. PT. Record Store Day promotes and celebrates hundreds of independent outlets across the country. More info can be found at recordstoreday.com.
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said on England's BBC Radio last month that the band's new album is tentatively going to surface in September, adding, "I like what I've heard so far."
The band has scheduled a slew of European festival dates for May, June and July in addition to its two U.S. shows.
