Motley Crue: New album and tour details
Motley Crue held a press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday (April 15th) to officially announce both "Crue Fest," a festival-style tour also featuring Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx: A.M. and Trapt, as well as a June 17th release date for the band's ninth studio album, Saints of Los Angeles. "Crue Fest" will begin on July 1st in West Palm Beach, Florida and hit more than 40 cities, closing out on August 31st in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The band performed the title track from Saints of Los Angeles following the press conference, during which they were joined by Josh Todd of Buckcherry, Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, James Michael of Sixx: A.M. and Chris Brown from Trapt on backing vocals.Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx said, "We are SO excited not only to headline our own annual summer festival, but also to be able to share the stage with the next generation of great rock bands...to say this summer's festival is going to be about rock 'n roll excess is an understatement. A night of hit songs by great bands and a trail of panties coast to coast...Crue Fest, hell yeah!"
Tickets for "Crue Fest" go on sale either Friday (April 18th) or Saturday (April 19th) depending on the city, although pre-sale tickets are available at therockvine.com.
The band's press conference was broadcast live on the Fuse music channel and webcast through various outlets. The group's representatives had previously denied that the tour was called "Crue Fest" and had hinted at the involvement of up to 20 other bands.
A rumored announcement of a new "360 deal" with Live Nation failed to materialize, although Live Nation is promoting "Crue Fest."
The song "Saints of Los Angeles" is now available for download through iTunes as well as via the Rock Band video game, making Motley Crue the first band to issue a single through the popular game. It's available for download now for 99 cents from the Xbox Live Marketplace and will be available on Thursday (April 17th) at the online PlayStation store.
