Ozzfest news "getting close"
Organizers for Ozzfest are "getting close" to unveiling information about the 2008 edition of the traveling festival, according to a post at the official Ozzfest web site. Fans are encouraged in the post to register at the site in order to get all the details as they become available. Word has been spreading in recent weeks rumors that the long-running event might revert back to its original form as a two-day event in the U.S., to be held this time in Dallas. Ozzfest began as a two-day show in Los Angeles in 1996 before turning into a full tour.Little is known at the moment of what configuration the tour will take this year to follow up 2007's "free" traveling show.
Ozzy Osbourne is expected to headline the event without Black Sabbath, while other rumored participants include Killswitch Engage, Alice In Chains, Serj Tankian, Mudvayne, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine plus the reactivated Filter and Stone Temple Pilots.
Ozzfest 2008 is also reportedly headed to the U.K. for a one-off show at London's O2 Arena on July 19th, according to Kerrang.com.
Ozzfest faces serious competition this year from the inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, which will play 30 North American amphitheaters during July and August with Disturbed, Slipknot and others on tap.
