Ozzy and Metallica headlining Ozzfest?

Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica are strongly rumored to be the headliners for this summer's Ozzfest, with a source telling Blabbermouth.net that the long-running metal festival tour will be scaled back to two separate two-day events in late July or early August. One of the shows is almost certain to be held in Dallas, with the other location yet to be revealed. A London date is also a possibility. Both two-day events will take place on a Saturday and Sunday, with Ozzy headlining one day and Metallica closing the show on the other.

Organizers for Ozzfest announced 10 days ago at the official web site that they were "getting close" to unveiling information about the 2008 edition.

Ozzfest began as a two-day show in Los Angeles in 1996 before spending more than a decade as a traveling festival. Last year featured free admission for all fans but a lack of big names on the main stage.

Other rumored participants this year include Killswitch Engage, Alice In Chains, Serj Tankian, Mudvayne, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine plus the reactivated Filter and Stone Temple Pilots.
