Richie Sambora charged with DUI
The Orange County, California District Attorney's office formally charged Richie Sambora with DUI on Tuesday (April 22nd), but the Bon Jovi guitarist avoided a misdemeanor child endangerment count. The Laguna Beach Police had recommended that Sambora face the additional charge after he was pulled over on March 25th with 10-year-old daughter Ava and her teenage cousin in the car.
The 48-year-old was arrested that night after police spotted him driving unsteadily. Testing revealed that he had a blood alcohol level of .13 at the time.
If convicted, Sambora faced a maximum penalty of six months in jail. His arraignment is set for May 7th.
Ava is Sambora's daughter with ex-wife Heather Locklear. His current girlfriend, Jenn Mallini, was in the car with him at the time of his arrest.
