Son says Eddie Van Halen is doing great
Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, told People magazine that his father is "doing great" and that Van Halen is on track to resume its touring schedule on April 19th. The 17-year-old Wolfgang, who plays bass in the group, was spotted at Nickelodeon's 2008 Kid's Choice Awards on Saturday (March 29th), where he told the magazine, "Don't listen to the rumors -- he's doing great -- seriously!" The band's first tour in 22 years with David Lee Roth on the mic was put on hold earlier this month, with promoters stating that Eddie Van Halen was undergoing "medical tests to define a course of treatment." A recurrence of cancer or a fall off the wagon were both rumored as the cause of the guitarist's woes, with the National Enquirer even reporting that he checked into a Texas rehab clinic. The nature of the tests that Eddie underwent has still not been disclosed.
The tour will now re-launch on April 17th with a newly added date in Reno, Nevada. Following an April 19th charity performance in Las Vegas, Van Halen will play 19 rescheduled shows, ending on June 2nd in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tickets for all the original dates are good for the new shows, and refunds are also available at point of purchase.
