Stone Temple Pilots sticking with the oldies on upcoming tour

Stone Temple Pilots has tentative plans to enter the studio later this year once they're done with their mammoth summer reunion tour, but fans shouldn't expect to hear any new material in the upcoming trek's live set list. Bassist Robert DeLeo told us that the group plans to reacquaint itself and its fans with STP's previous five albums first: "I think new material will come probably after this tour, but I think getting back to the things that got us together, the songs and the material and the reasons we got together in the first place, I think, is a strong place to start, and just make this something that is enjoyable for everyone. Enjoyable for us, enjoyable for the fans, enjoyable for people that are coming to the show."

Fans are encouraged to submit song requests for the tour set list at the band's official web site.

Stone Temple Pilots will begin their first full-length road trip since 2002 at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 17th, with the trek winding down on August 31st Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival.

The group officially announced their reunion with a private performance for about 350 people earlier this month at the Houdini Mansion in Los Angeles. The event might be released as part of a DVD.

Stone Temple Pilots will perform on the May 1st edition of ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live.
