Nickelback frontman sentenced for drunk driving
Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger was sentenced on Thursday (May 1st) to a one-year driving ban and a fine of $590 for drunk driving, stemming from an incident that occurred in 2006. The 33-year-old singer was stopped by police for speeding in his Lamborghini in the Vancouver, British Columbia's suburb of Surrey. At the time, a breath test revealed he had nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.Upon his departure from the courthouse, the singer told reporters, "Everyone makes mistakes," although he does not condone drinking and driving. Although he received a relatively light sentence, his lawyer will appeal the conviction on the basis that police violated Kroeger's rights in the manner in which they took the breath test.
Nickelback's chart-topping All The Right Reasons remains in Billboard's Top 200 after 134 weeks and seven million units sold.
