Metallica will begin releasing some new material on May 12th via the new site MissionMetallica.com. The group says it will give fans the opportunity to "experience the new album before it's done." The set is expected out in September. A U.S. tour will likely begin around the same time. Meanwhile, Metallica will play Europe this summer, along with the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee in mid-June. System of a Down singer Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, will release their first album as new outfit, Scars on Broadway on July 29th. Malakian told Billboard.com that the sound is "driven more by rock than it is by metal, even though there might be some metal overtones there." He added, "I see it more as a rock band." The songs are also inspired by the sound of punk bands, David Bowie and the Beatles.
Camp Freddy -- featuring Dave Navarro and Matt Sorum -- welcomed a batch of guests stars at their gig last Thursday (May 1st) at the Roxy in Los Angeles. Members from Extreme and Ratt were also at the gig. The residency continues throughout the month, with shows slated for May 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th.
