First Queen + Paul Rodgers album "nearly complete"

Paul Rodgers says that the first Queen + Paul Rodgers studio album is nearly complete.

The album, tentatively titled Cosmos Rocks, is due out in the fall, and marks Queen's first new album since 1995's Made In Heaven, which featured material recorded just prior to Freddie Mercury's 1991 death.

Paul Rodgers says that the new album is now in the final mixing stage, and nearly complete: [ Click to listen if you have a backstage pass] "We're pretty good. We're pretty good. We almost had too much material at one point. We were sweating thinking, 'I don't think we can get this done!' You know, the devil is in the details. Mixing is such a time consuming thing, and those last minute overdubs really can consume a lot of time. But we're in great shape actually. We tried out one of the new songs, we did a TV show -- a raging comedy show (in Britain), and we tried out one of the new songs there and it went very well. It was great."

Rodgers will reunite with his surviving Bad Company bandmates Simon Kirke and Mick Ralphs for just one night, on August 8th in Hollywood, Florida at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The show will be recorded for inclusion on a Bad Company compilation due out before the end of the year, and also filmed for a DVD.

Queen + Paul Rodgers kick off their European tour on September 15th and 16th in Moscow. There has been no official date set for the upcoming studio album.
