Phil Ramone wants to produce Billy Joel album
Billy Joel's longtime record producer Phil Ramone says he would jump at the chance to team up with Joel, should he ever want to record a rock album again.
Ramone recently supervised Joel's The Stranger 30th Anniversary Collection and produced his 2007 single "All My Life."
Ramone was asked if he would drop everything at a moment's notice to work with Joel again: [

We've seen each other and even did this love song for Valentine's Day, it would be the most anti-slick album anyone of us would make. Because, sooner or later he will make... you know, somewhere in the back of his mind he's avoiding ever (being) compared to himself, or any other guy who is plus-60."
Phil Ramone produced seven albums for Joel -- The Stranger (1977), 52nd Street (1978), Glass Houses (1980), Songs In The Attic (1981), The Nylon Curtain (1982), An Innocent Man (1983), and The Bridge (1986).
Joel has just released The Stranger 30th Anniversary Collection. The collection, celebrating his Grammy Award winning 1977 album, has been remastered by Ramone.
The set features the original album, along with a previously unreleased Billy Joel concert taped at New York's Carnegie Hall on June 3rd, 1977, just prior to the sessions for The Stranger.
The deluxe edition feature three discs: The Stranger remastered; Live At Carnegie Hall 1977; and a DVD containing a performance on the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test and two live promotional videos.
Best Buy is selling the collection with an additional bonus CD, taped on December 11th, 1977 at New York's Nassau Coliseum, featuring "Just The Way You Are," "Vienna," "The Ballad Of Billy The Kid," "Get It Right the First Time," and "Summer Highland Falls."
Billy Joel will next perform on Tuesday and Thursday (July 16th and 18th), when he closes out New York City's Shea Stadium with his "The Last Play At Shea" concerts, which will be the final rock shows performed at the ball park before it's leveled.
On July 14th Joel announced a swing through Australia and New Zealand in November and December. No additional dates have been announced.
