Police continue search for David Lee Roth imposter

Police are on the hunt for the man who claimed to be Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth when he was pulled over by Canadian police this past spring for speeding. According to the Hamilton Spectator, some people -- including a cop -- recognized the poser in newspaper photos as a man named David Kuntz. Kuntz's former friend Steve Woodfield said Kuntz drummed in a rock band called Majesty in the 1980s.

Meanwhile, a Canadian musician named Frank Crytes says he was in the car with Kuntz heading to dinner when they were pulled over for speeding. Kruntz was having an allergic reaction and told cops his name was David Lee Roth before heading to the hospital. Crytes says he recorded music with the man he knew as David, and now wants his songs back, adding, "He said he knew some people and he was going to get me a publishing deal." Another man told the paper that Kuntz is a talented musician who often gets mistaken for Roth.

The real David Lee Roth released a statement to the media last week, in which he denied being in Canada at the time of the incident.
