Thursday declared Motley Crue day
Thursday (July 31st) will be declared "Motley Crue Saints of Los Angeles Day" by a representative of the city at a press conference taking place at Guitar Center in Hollywood, according to a statement from the group's publicist. The declaration will be part of an event announcing a new partnership between Guitar Center and Motley Crue that will include the launch of "Guitar Center Onstage," a chance for an up-and-coming band to win a record and management deal with the same organization that handles Motley Crue itself.Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx told us he's proud of being known as a Los Angeles band: "You know, I used to say we were from Hollywood because we started in Hollywood, but we're from Los Angeles. You know, of course, being the 'Saints of Los Angeles' is a little...tongue in cheek? Just doesn't have the same ring as the 'Sinners of Los Angeles,' you know."
Members of Motley Crue will appear at the event, along with Trapt singer Chris Brown and representatives from Guitar Center and the Crue's label, Eleven Seven Music.
Guitar Center is located at 7425 Hollywood Boulevard. The event kicks off at noon PT.
The Crue's inaugural Crue Fest tour, which also features Trapt, Buckcherry, Papa Roach and Sixx: A.M., stops in Phoenix on Thursday night.
Motley Crue issued its first album of all-new material in eight years, Saints of Los Angeles, in June.
