Tommy Lee wants Johnny Depp to play him in Motley Crue Movie
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee wants Pirates of the Caribbean and Sweeney Todd star Johnny Depp to play him in the film version of the band's 2001 memoir, The Dirt, according to Undercover News. Lee said, "Johnny Depp would be my choice to play me. He's the best ever." The film was announced a couple of years ago by MTV Films and Paramount Pictures, but the Crue is now looking for a new studio to develop it after bassist Nikki Sixx said MTV had gotten "bogged down" and was "not the right partner."The Crue released its first new album in eight years, Saints of Los Angeles, last month.
The band is currently headlining the first Crue Fest tour, which also features Buckcherry, Papa Roach and others.
Tommy Lee, meanwhile, recently told an Australian radio station that he's become a part-time vegetarian, possibly due to the influence of ex-wife Pamela Anderson, with whom he recently reconciled.
Lee explained, "It's something that I haven't done before and, you know, I wanna check it out and see what it's like, and I feel lighter...I don't know, it's just different."
Motley Crue will perform a free online concert from the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas on Friday, August 1st. The live event will be available to anyone with broadband Internet access from DeepRockDrive.com.
