The Who to tour the U.S. in 2008
The Who will tour the U.S. this fall, with the first two shows set for November 8th and 9th at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre. Thewho.com reported that more dates will be announced soon.Roger Daltrey told Rolling Stone that the prospects of the Who recording a new album are not the band's top priority, explaining, "I think we've done enough already. It would be great to have something new, but it doesn't really matter."
He went on to say that he feels the band is at its strongest as a touring act: "No one plays our music better than us. By the end of this year, after we've done this short stint and got Japan under our belts, we'll have a re-think. I would like to do Quadrophenia again. I think that tour was way ahead of its time when we did it back in 1996. There's so much we can do, but the road does wear you down."
Daltrey shed light on the Keith Moon biopic he's executive producing, which has run into several snags in finding the right team to write and direct it: "Maybe I made a mistake of coming to Hollywood. I probably would've been better off trying to get it done in England. I'd rather nothing was made then a run-of-the-mill biopic about Keith Moon. The project is really struggling, but when it's ready, it will happen." Mike Myers has signed on to portray Moon in the biopic, called See Me Feel Me: Keith Moon Naked For Your Pleasure. No shoot date for the project has been announced.
Daltrey explained how he and Pete Townshend had to restructure the band's balance on stage and in the studio following the 2002 death of John Entwistle: [

Pete and I are two opposite end of the globe, if you like, and John was the equator. Now it's very, very, different and we had to come to terms with that." The Who will perform on July 12th at the 2008 VH1 Rock Honors, which will salute the band. The show will also feature performances by Pearl Jam, the Flaming Lips, the Foo Fighters, Incubus, and the comedy-rock duo Tenacious D, featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass. The 2008 VH1 Rock Honors saluting the Who will be broadcast on VH1 on July 17th.
