Aerosmith's Steven Tyler writing autobiography
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is writing his autobiography and will publish it through Ecco, a division of Harper Collins. According to Crain's New York Business, Ecco won the rights to the memoir through an auction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tyler is the latest in a line of rock legends, including Keith Richards, Eric Clapton and Slash, to tell his life story in a book. The 60-year-old New York-born rocker, whose real name is Steven Tallarico, formed Aerosmith in the early 70s in New Hampshire. They went on to become one of the biggest rock bands in the world, although their career was threatened by heavy drug use and resurrected when the band members, particularly Tyler, got clean.Tyler checked into a California rehab facility in May to fight off a dependency on pain and sleep medication that he was taking to recover from foot surgery.
The procedures were meant to correct longstanding injuries resulting from his more than three decades of performing onstage.
Aerosmith recently unveiled Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, the first installment in the hugely successful video game franchise to focus on a single act.
