Metallica sets release date for "Death Magnetic"
Metallica has officially set Friday, September 12th as the "worldwide" release date for its new album, Death Magnetic. Since there are separate release dates for CDs in different parts of the world, this likely means that the disc will surface in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on the 12th, since CDs arrive on Fridays in those countries. The U.K. release date is listed as Monday, September 15th, which means that the album will arrive in North America on Tuesday, September 16th.Metallica shot a video last Thursday (July 31st) for the song "The Day That Never Comes," according to a post at the band's web site. The post read, "We shot a video...nah, more like a short film really...for the first featured track from Death Magnetic. Directed by fellow Dane/filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg, we spent the better part of the afternoon playing 'The Day That Never Comes' to a sold-out crowd of dust and smoke just outside of Los Angeles, CA...Should be ready to share with all of you at the end of the month, give or take...more to come."
Meanwhile, the Copenhagen Post has reported that Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and his partner of four years, actress Connie Nielsen, have taken up residence in a top Copenhagen hotel for a six-week summer vacation. The deluxe accommodations in the hotel's Royal Suite are costing the couple the equivalent of more than $5,200 a night.
It's a working vacation for Ulrich, since Metallica has dates booked throughout August, including the Ozzfest in Dallas, plus shows in France, Belgium, Switzerland and the U.K.
Both Nielsen and Ulrich are natives of Denmark. They have one son together, while Ulrich has two boys from his second marriage and Nielsen also has a son from a previous relationship.
